Lenovo IdeaPad U260-505 Review

The Lenovo IdeaPad U260 is a model that might just be perfect for you if you're looking for a notebook that is one of the best laptops 2010 and is ultralight and has a great LCD that is LED backlit, all for a price that is less than $1,000. Even though the screen is a 12.5 inch model, which makes it bigger than the regular netbook, the 3 pound weight and the 18mm thickness makes it about as light as a regular model.
Thanks to its size and weight, the Lenovo U260 is easily carried around for an entire day, but it's also large enough that it allows you to see the entire spreadsheet when working with office software.
Thanks to the high quality of the screen, watching movies on it is a pleasure and it comes with sufficient clarity to allow you to show off photos on it or edit them. The resolution of the screen is 1366x768 and the aspect ratio is 16 to 9.
Even though the hardware of the U260 isn't exactly gaming material, the notebook does come with a number of nice features, like a HDMI port, battery with 4 cells which lasts for 3 hours, multitouch touchpad and a webcam.
The laptop looks good from the outside but it also has some decent hardware in it, enough to work and sometimes even to play a bit on it. Two of the options available when it comes to processors are the i3-380UM which runs at 1.33GHz and the i5-470UM which runs at 1.33GHz but thanks to Turbo Boost it can reach 1.86GHz.
One of the best usability features of the laptop is the rest pad and keyboard of the U260. The keyboard has features that allow it to protect against small coffee spills but it also helps the laptop remain cool. Its keys are spaced well and they allow you to type comfortably while resting your hands on the rest pad, which is also well designed.
When it comes to gaming capabilities, the U260 doesn't really fit the profile of a gaming laptop. Since this is a ultramobile machine, true gaming performance is almost impossible, so this isn't a laptop to buy for its gaming capabilities. If you don't have any other choices, this laptop can play some games on lighter quality settings, so it's not totally useless. If you want to play, pick some older games, that don't require the latest generation of graphics.
The battery life of the IdeaPad U260 should allow you for up to 4 hours of use, or about three hours if you want to watch movies on it for the entire duration.
When everything is considered, the Lenovo IdeaPad U260 is a stylish notebook with a great LCD and decent hardware on it. You get a very low weight but you sacrifice a bit in the battery life department. Other than that, this model is quite good and there aren't any major problems with it. It does what you would expect an ultralight laptop to do and the price is decent enough.
